In this informative presentation, Jerry explains the progression of donor involvement – how it increases a prospect’s level of giving, and how to successfully move a prospect from one level to the next. Following the “Five I’s of Donor Cultivation”, intermediate and advanced fund-raisers will have a better understanding of how to increase cultivation and involvement in your organization – while increasing the giving inclination of your constituents in the process! Attendees will learn how to move a prospect from identified to informed; from informed to interested; from interested to involved; and from involved to invested!

Presenter Biography:

Author, lecturer, teacher and fundraising consultant Jerry F. Smith, CFRE founded the J.F. Smith Group in 1991.

Following a successful development career as executive director of alumni and development at Auburn University, Smith was asked to speak to the board of trustees of a large Christian school in Birmingham, Alabama, to offer advice with regard to a possible capital campaign. At the end of the meeting, Smith was asked if he would take the job as a consultant, and thus the J.F. Smith Group was born.

Since then, the J.F. Smith Group has conducted feasibility studies and capital campaigns for clients all across the country, assisting in raising more that $1 billion. Significantly, the company has conducted two and three campaigns from many of these same clients.

Smith is a popular and respected convention presenter. He has conducted seminars on an assortment of fundraising topics in the United States for the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), Association of Christian Schools International (ASCI), Blackbaud, Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP), National Association of Athletics Development Directors (NAADD). He has taught fundraising courses at Troy State University and is also the receipient of the 2000 NSFRE Award for Civic Philanthropy.
